In most cases, the challenges (some are minor problems while others can be full-blown crises) are related to relationships, health, money, friendships, children, happiness and other daily life experiences.

Let’s analyze the situations carefully. In many cases, they are unavoidable because we are exposed to various conditions from when we wake up until we go to sleep daily.

Life System

We resort to various actions and techniques to remove or ease these tests and challenges, but the troubles continue to recur because some of these concerns are part of our life’s system.

I had a friend who shared an enlightening story with me on how she manages to cope with her life through affirmations after her marriage failed two years ago.

“My life was shattered when my marriage broke up, but I picked up the pieces and got myself together with one strong affirmation that read ‘I WILL SURVIVE’,” she said.

She displays the declaration, printed in bold letters, on the wall at her workplace and in bedroom. She reads the words whenever she has flashbacks of her unpleasant past or when she sinks into disillusionment.

Affirmations

Powerful words or phrases are affirmations that generate positive thoughts. Read repeatedly, they program our conscious and subconscious minds.

Saying things to ourselves, about ourselves, constantly help achieve all that we want because they become beliefs that soon become reality. Such exercises ward off negative emotions and create new and constructive thought patterns in the mind. All of us have a power center within us, and to activate this power center we use commanding words found in affirmations.

Repeating daily affirmations helps transform a person’s self-image and gives him or her the confidence to dismiss the past and move forward bravely.

There are various types of affirmations: single word affirmations, phrase affirmations, spoken affirmations and recorded affirmations.

For example, single word affirmations are word like:
• LOVE
• POWER
• PEACE
• SUPER
• COOL
• CALM
• STRONG
• BRAVE
• CONFIDENT
• OPTIMISTIC

Just viewing or mentally repeating such words daily allows us to program our mind, body, and spirit to handle daily situations.

Phrase affirmations are affirmations that are made as a sentence or phrase. Examples are “I am confident”, “I am brave”, “I am strong”, “I am worthy of the best things” and “Every day and in every way I am getting healthier/ wealthier/ happier”.

Spoken affirmation are simple affirmation that you make audibly to yourself. If you so wish, you can even record your affirmations and play them back to yourself whenever you feel you need a boost of positivity. Recorded affirmations are effective because they can be played before we begin the day or whilst we are doing something else like preparing meals.

We want to use these different ways of affirming depending on the situation and the purpose. Also, try not to use more than three affirmations, or it will dilute your focus.

A Daily Mission Statement

We can also write an affirmation a dozen times or more on a piece of paper using red ink before we start our day, making the affirmation our mission statement.

Use the present tense when writing affirmations. As you write, do it with faith and respect.

Repeating an affirmation is one of the best ways to start our day because by saying our chosen phrases, we strengthen ourselves internally and create an aura of confidence.

How To Practice Affirmations

The best time to practice affirmations is before we go to sleep or shortly after we wake up.

Affirmations protect us from being influenced by negative situations. Ever so often, we find ourselves amongst people who speak negative words, which effectively are “negative” affirmations.

To strengthen an affirmation, try using images or visualizing the affirmation. Feel the truth of the words you are affirming.

To relax, hang a big picture of a scenic waterfall or a pleasant scene and mentally visualize that you are part of the image.

Affirmations For Studies

Affirmations are also highly recommended for students as part of their art of learning skills. Positive affirmations give hope and act as a guide for students to stay focused on their path to success.

Children stay alert during their studies when they are taught the slogans and phrases that neutralize negative influences. All that’s required is constant exposure to the affirmation phrases which can be hung on a wall for them to read or recite.

Here are some affirmations for students:
• I am a super reader.
• I study like a sponge.
• The exam is output learning.
• I always laugh and smile a lot.
• I learn quickly and remember well.
• I always find ways to improve myself.
• For things to change, I must change first.
• Learning is fun, exciting and interesting.
• When I have a plan, I have directed attention.
• I always plan time to do my revision every day.
• My memory is getting better and better each day.
• When I have a purpose, I have deeper concentration.
• I have the strength and courage to express myself.
• I appreciate and love myself more and more every day.
• When I read, I use my finger to help me focus and concentrate.
• When I used my body to sit correctly, I have controlled concentration.
• I will do my best, and if I make a mistake, I will learn from my mistake.
• I am exceptional, I like who I am, and I feel great about myself.
• When I study for 25-40 minutes, I will take a short study break of 20 seconds to three minutes only, and then I will continue.
• When I walk, talk, smile and, more importantly, think like an “A” Star student, I will begin to be like one.
