NAVIGATE YOUR LIFE WITH GODDESS GUIDANCE
The Wise & Wealthy Goddesses
Our Journey So Far
We have traveled a long way together since the first goddess series article published when we started our journey into the realm of the ancient goddesses. If you path has been anything like mine, then you probably wouldn’t recognize yourself as you stand at the last quarter of the year and ponder the lessons the year has taught and brought you. And as you stand at that very same place that you have stood at so many times before, what lessons will you take with you into next year, to use not only as your teacher but as your guide to live a wise and abundant life?
How do we live in a world that places value on external possessions and resources and not get caught up in wanting more, being more, having more? Can we see that it is an illusory trap set to lure us in, when we know very well that having 1,000 more followers, or those extra pair of shoes, won’t ever bring us lasting peace and happiness?
Wealth?
Some say that you are wealthiest when you can be grateful for what you have. Which means that wealth, normally defined as an accumulation of worldly goods, needs redefinition.
Because have you noticed how the financially wealthy are often desperately unhappy and insecure? While sometimes those with very little have the most gracious and generous attitudes and live a life of contentment?
Or Wisdom?
You can begin to see that material wealth without wisdom will not go a long way in sustaining a balanced, fulfilled life. For how often is it that big lottery winners land up a year or two later in the same financial woes they had before, possibly with even less to their names?
While not everyone has the same opportunity to access knowledge, everyone does have the opportunity and ability to access wisdom. It is the wisdom of the Higher Self that knows better. The Higher Self lives within each of us, but sometimes we need others to tell us that we can trust this voice of wisdom to guide our lives, so that we live our days feeling and doing enough.
Goddesses Of Wisdom & Wealth
Here are the wonderful goddesses who can help us when we need to tap into good fortune and be courageous enough to use it wisely!
Abundantia – Roman Goddess Of Fortune, Success & Prosperity

This Roman goddess is the ultimate representation of wealth and abundance. She is often depicted carrying a cornucopia filled with grains and coins; back in the day grain was a high value commodity to trade with. This also makes us consider how food and wealth have always been tied together as a status symbol.
This goddess is the perfect ally to call upon when you need help with saving or investing your money, or needing assistance with an increase in all kinds of prosperity. She can also be of help when in need of more time, opportunities or ideas. Keep your eyes open to find coins in unusual places, as it’s a sign she is with you and is ready to help grow your prosperity. She is also fondly known as “Lady Luck”, when with little effort good fortune smiles down on one.
Lakshmi – Hindu Goddess Of Generosity & Prosperity

This multi-faceted Hindu goddess is also known for her beauty and as a bringer of positivity.
Lakshmi can assist to improve your financial situation, and allows you to feel enough and not lacking in anything. When you feel like you are not good enough, or can’t find gratitude for the small things that bring fulfillment, or when you need to be more generous with your resources, call on this powerful deity. This is one of the reasons she is known as the goddess of generosity, as she always has enough time, patience, love and fortune to bless us all.
Inari – Japanese Goddess Of Prosperity, Tea & Rice

Inari, sometimes called Inari Okami is a complex Japanese deity worshipped in Shinto religion and appears in many different forms. As a goddess she is depicted as a young beautiful woman with flowing hair. She is also known as the Goddess of Nourishment, bestowing fortune and bounty on those who call upon her with pure intention.
While she is the patroness of farmers and merchants, she can help with any lack of growth in your life. If you feel abandoned, alone or unsupported, or you need more nurturing and nourishment, she can help you fill that space with positive life-enhancing ideas and experiences. In business endeavors she brings success and growth. Associated with the fox (some adherents carry a fox tail for good luck), you can visualize or call on this totem energy to connect with her.

Minerva – Roman Goddess Of Wisdom & Commerce

This Roman goddess is equated with the Greek goddess Athena, and is depicted with an owl – the sacred symbol of wisdom and knowledge. Again, she is multi-faceted in that she is also a warrior goddess and a goddess of trade and commerce.
When you need good counsel and practical advice, Minerva is the perfect goddess to call upon. She is connected with many mythological stories – Medusa, Hercules and Odysseus – bringing success and victory through her wise counsel and advice. She is also the deity to invoke when dealing with educational matters of learning or information. In weighing life decisions, she will assist with finding the wisest solution, when forethought and calculation are needed.
Seshat – Egyptian Goddess Of Wisdom, Intelligence & Writing

This ancient Egyptian goddess is also known as the Mistress of the House of Books and is both scribe and record keeper. She is credited with the invention of writing. Her intelligence covers the fields of mathematics, astronomy, surveying and accounting – so her knowledge base is expansive.
Seshat can help you formulate your plans and ideas and literally put pen to paper when you need help with your to-do-lists or when you are looking at the pros and cons of something. Her wisdom is not only relevant to this world, but she carries wisdom from other times and dimensions as she is thought to have access to the library of the gods – hence any spiritual or supernatural wisdom or advice can be sought from her.
If you have any writing projects, journaling ideas or budget sheets to put together she can help them come to life.
Sophia – Goddess of Sacred Spiritual Wisdom

While Sophia is not a conventional goddess, she is connected to several incarnations relating to the sacred feminine. She is central figure in Gnosticism – which emphasizes individual knowledge as the path to the Divine. She is often compared to the female aspect of the Christ consciousness.
This wise woman can help those searching for their path and purpose in life, and those who need to learn to listen and trust their inner voice and callings. She is particularly helpful when asking the big, deep questions about life and our place in it. Use her energy when going on any “spiritual” quest, or “dark night of the soul” experience. When you are going through any life changing experience such changing jobs, giving birth or the loss of a loved one, Sophia is the wise companion to guide you through.
Enriched With Wisdom
After examining each of these gifted deities and their qualities, I hope you feel encouraged to dig deeper into your own definitions and attitudes toward what wealth and wisdom truly mean for you.
Can you see that the year has provided for your needs, even if not always in the form that you would have liked?
For some people wealth is their children, for others it is their careers. But it remains true that a bulging bank account will do nothing to stop the terminal illness of a loved one, the ruin of reputation or the dark night of the soul.
Knowing how to act in certain situations by using your wisdom mind, can avert much hurt and conflict, rather than barging in and lashing out with the first thoughts you have.
What good is knowledge without a sound mind to live it every day? Reading about meditating and doing the meditating are two very different things!
The Abundant Life
So, wealth is not just about money and stuff, and wisdom is not just about doing another course or getting a degree. Yes, we need material things and money to live in this messy magical world, but we need so much more than that.
The ultimate meaning in life will not come from reading about it in a book or having some great public speaker inspire you for a few minutes. The meaning and mystery of your life will be revealed by living your experiences and then truly using them, in the wisest way to enrich not only your own life, but those of others too. There could be no greater wealth in the world than being able to sleep at night with a full belly, a full heart and a mind full of peace.
