TRIBUTE TO MOTHER OF ALL MOTHERS
Volume 14

Meaning of connection: “Something that joins or connects two or more things, the act of connecting two or more things or the state of being connected, a situation in which two or more things have the same cause, origin, goal, etc.” (Merriam-Webster)

Who Are We

Many of us, whilst in our 20s and 30s, believe that our careers and marriage would be a priority and achievement in life. There are also many who believe that purchasing an expensive car, a big house, a luxurious holiday trip or an expensive handbag, would warrant a pat on the back.

Often, we don’t even realize that we can lose the essence of who we are as we live our busy and stressful daily lives. Our goals and dreams may be pushed to the back of our “cabinet of priorities” and some of them may never be brought out into the light again.

I believe that no matter how busy we are striving to live and make ends meet, we have to honor ourselves and connect with our true essence. Each of us is unique in our own way and nothing and no one can put us in a box, or label us as this or that.

Losing My Connection

If you had asked me previously with whom I was most connected to, I would have said it was my family. For 18 years, I had put my daughter and my ex-spouse at the forefront of my life. During those 18 years, my connection with myself was so fragile and even “invisible”, and I was completely lost as to who I really was. I couldn’t remember what I was passionate about, or what I enjoyed doing. Day in and day out, I was only going through the motions of “living” life, and that too in a mechanical fashion.

Losing the connection with my true self plunged me into deep depression. Distracting myself through work on the other hand blinded me to my real dreams.

Re-Connecting In Meditation

Thank heavens I came to my senses and reached out for help. And that was when I found a way to reconnect with myself – through meditation. Contrary to what I had thought before then, the meditation that I learned and which I still practice to this day did not involve any chanting or religion. But what it did was assist me to go deep within myself and re-discover my potential, my self-worth and my love for myself. It reconnected me with my mind, my heart and my body.

Connecting With Mother Gaia

A life-changing meditation which I learned at a workshop was the one that brought me into the loving embrace of Mother Gaia.

This happened not too long ago and it was my very first contact with Mother, a contact which was extremely deep and meaningful, and which will be etched in my heart forever. In that meditation, I felt wave upon wave of unconditional love, peace and support coming over me, making me tremble in blissful appreciation for Her palpable presence for the first time in my life.

Her energy was so strong, so positive, so empowering, that I had no other choice but to finally tear down the “Great Wall of Sucy Chan”; that great, thick wall which had not only defended poor little me from the things that I feared but which had also shut out the love and happiness which I had sought for. Mother Gaia gave me Light to finally see the Darkness that I had enveloped myself in; and she also blessed me with the compassion to know I am not alone in my pain and sadness.

Since then, Mother Gaia has always been here to propel me forward in my mission to learn and regain the remembrance of Who I Am. I feel her always: her presence, love and warm embrace. She balances and grounds me so that I do not need to escape but stand firm to fight when I face my own shadows. Mother Gaia helps me re-claim my power. She allows me to release to her negative energies and darkness, and then she heals and nourishes my body, my soul and my consciousness. She brightens my outlook of life and now I appreciate every little gift that comes my way.

I call her Mother of All Mothers. Giver and Taker of Life, Nurturer of All Beings – animals, plants, minerals and humans. She has given me a piece of Heaven on Earth, a place to call home while I am here in this world. For all she has done for me and humanity, I feel that I have not done enough to spread her message. Even though Mother can heal herself faster than I can say “Yay!”, she needs us to respect and honor her.

Can we just take 5 minutes a day to think positive, feel positive and be positive? We can create a positive, harmonious, interdependent and thus interconnected society of living beings who love and respect one another and thus create a better world for all of us to live in. Positivity directly affects Mother Gaia energetically and also encourages her Children to give back and support Her. We do this by choosing eco-friendly alternatives to the food we eat, the things we use and the way we dispose garbage, among other things. In other words, we choose eco-friendly alternatives to our lifestyle. We must continue to make positive choices that affect Mother Gaia and of course, ourselves. In honoring our Mother, we honor ourselves and the future generations.
