THE BUSINESS OF ABUNDANCE
Vol.17
How Do You Feel?
Do you feel tired and lethargic all the time? Stressed up about your business or work? When feeling so lethargic, one can hardly think clearly and work on one’s success. How do you get back to feeling positive and proactive? How you feel affects your abundance mind.
Friends Ask…
Many friends ask me how I keep being energetic all the time. Do I take vitamins? Do I do particular treatments? Hardly, I tell them. What I do is that I practice an abundance mind and that keeps me going all day long.
So What Is This Abundance Mind?
Abundance mind is when I feel wholesome and when my inner self is aligned with my external well- being. An example of alignment is when my inner self feels peaceful and abundant, and this will be reflected in my external circumstances such as my business.
Why Abundance Mind?
When I started researching the subject of abundance, I came across lots of information on achieving abundance in one’s personal life. However, very little is said about abundance in business, groups, organizations or even whole communities. For this article, I would like to talk about having an abundance mind in business.
The other reason for writing about an abundance mind in business is because I would like to share my experiences and help people succeed in their business like I did. There are many fantastic business ideas that run on common beliefs, such as, so long you have customers you are fine. But is that enough? Can the business sustain over the long run? Will customers keep coming? Will there be new customers?
The business owner should realize that low energy levels in the people who run the business, from the business owner to the staff, do affect the business. Low energy levels do not pull in the customers (and other stakeholders including staff and suppliers) as compared with a confident, positive mindset. Even if customers come, they may not be retained.

The Bigger The Purpose, The Bigger The Success
When the purpose is not just about oneself but also for the betterment of or inspires others, the universe will send the right energy of success and prosperity in the direction of the business. I am not just talking about social enterprises or charities, but also for-profit organizations. When the purpose is right, success will come.
Team Alignment
When you and your team are aligned strongly to a clear and bigger purpose, you will see that you will attract the right business partners, suppliers and customers or clients who will be similarly aligned. They will agree with your purpose and goals and they will support you through not only the good but also the bad times.
Now let’s take a look at what it takes to build an abundance mind in business.
Building The Abundance Mind
The abundance mind in business is achieved when the entrepreneur feels blissful, contented and always have good numbers of clients and resources. The organization is able to attract good people to work with them, at the same time pulling in great clients and resources. This type of organization competes with themselves rather than with “competitors”, their purpose being to bring massive value to their customers.
Align The Core Values Of The People
Step 1: Align the core values of individuals, partners and employees.
For individuals
Start by writing down 5-6 core values that resonate with you, for example: integrity, punctuality, transparency, love, family. After stating your core values, write down a line or two to explain what you mean about the core values you have chosen to uphold.
For partners/employees
After writing down your individual core values, have your partner or employee write down her core values. Do get her to also write down a line or two that explains those core values.
Step 2: Have a discussion to combine core values
The two of you should discuss your core values together. Are there similarities? Are there differences? With any difference, is it something the both of you can compromise on or modify? Combine your core values and streamline them to fewer than 10 items, which then make up the team’s core values.
Step 3: Make a decision
What happens when you do not accept your partner/employee’s core values? Call off the collaboration if you cannot accept her values.
Let me share with you a situationI was involved in. I received a long distance call from a potential collaborator. And during that first call, we already had quite a few points that neither of us could compromise on. Right after the call, I quietened down and brought forth my core values and marked off those values that didn’t resonate with his. I then called off further discussions after discovering how unaligned he and I were.
Align The Business With The Inner Self
What else do you do to achieve abundance mindset? How do you align the business with your inner self?
Let me share with you my morning regime.
1. I go through a gratitude process and answer the following questions:
• What’s my goal for my business today (the one thing I want to most achieve)?
• What are the 10 things that I am most grateful for now in my business?
• What am I willing to give to others today?
2. I then follow a Priming Process shared by Anthony Robbins. Key learnings of Priming Process:
• Practice gratitude (as in #1)
• Visualize (colored light filling the body to heal all parts of you and all problems)
• Share love (send positive energy and love to other people)
• Celebrate all wins (feel the feeling of success as if you have already achieved your chosen business goals)
3. Throughout the day, I would use the Insight Timer App to do meditation.
This is an interesting app as it provides choices of guided meditations. No more excuses that you don’t have time because you can select a 5-minute meditation and do it even when you are commuting.
4. I use a planner to plan and review my daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activities to keep moving forward towards my business goals. I also use this planner to record my vision, mission and goals that I review from time to time. This is important to constantly keep myself focused and in alignment with my business goals, especially during stressful times.
5. I use essential oils daily to maintain my focus, clarity of mind and to help me relax. Throughout the day, I use different oils for different purposes. I particularly like White Angelica essential oil to guard off negative energies.
6. Loving myself. I spend some time weekly to do things I like. When you love yourself more, you can also love others more. This is how love is.
All businesses should adopt the abundance mind. This is the way forward if a business is to thrive and prosper in this new age. Once the inner self aligns with the external well-being and when one does things that one is passionate about, success and well-being will happen synchronously. When more people such as business owners and employees live abundant lives with the abundance mind, it would augur a more abundant, happier and peaceful era for our world.
