LIVE PASSIONATELY! LIVE SUCCESSFULLY!

Are You Making Your Dream Come True?

Imagine having a dream you are working towards. You know exactly where you want to be and who you want to become. But progress seems isn’t as fast as you wish it to be.

Or perhaps, you are like an aimless little sheep, full of dreams, but being led elsewhere by some shepherd. Suddenly, you wake up to realize that you are chasing someone else’s dream.

Your soul is screaming to break free and stand tall. Fear and limited resources result in your knowledge, wisdom and wish to inspire others slowly becoming a silent voice in a big loud world.

Me The Dancer

When I was much younger, I dreamt of being a dancer. There was a sense of freedom when I danced. I admired dancers who were able to express it all through movements. They were so graceful, daring and execute each move beautifully. Admittedly, my physical built wasn’t like theirs. Neither was I talented like them. All I knew was I wanted to become a dancer.

One day, I boldly went for a dance audition although I only had very little dance experience. With just a week to prepare, I spent my days and nights practicing a short routine which I had choreographed.

On the day of the audition, I walked onto the dance floor armed with some clumsy movements and little confidence. I told myself, “This is it!  Let’s give it all you’ve got!” And I did.

I wasn’t happy with my performance and I felt the instructors weren’t either. I assumed my chances were slim. But I did what I could – I gave it my best.

One long week later, the results were released. I wasn’t ready to accept an unfavorable outcome. My good friend took the liberty of reading my results and declared loudly, “You’re in, babe!”  I read the letter over and over again. And yes, I was in for real.

Keeping The Dream Alive

A teacher once said to me, “Despite all this confusion and struggle that you have been through, one thing to be admired is your unwillingness to let go of your dream.”

A whole new world opened up for me when I received that letter. From that day on, I put in even more effort. I practiced day and night to excel at dancing. Not being naturally talented at it meant that I needed to put in much more work than other aspiring dancers.

Undoubtedly, there were many bad days. I just had to keep going with the faith that my effort would never fail me. Eventually, I graduated and later became what I consider a “pretty fine dancer”!
