NAVIGATE YOUR LIFE WITH GODDESS GUIDANCE PART 2

Spirit Of The Warrior Goddess

Living in the 21st century is convenient but not easy. We have all been fighting battles with the world, our lives and ourselves. We have had to fight our way through pandemics, anxiety, illness, loss, uncertainty and unprecedented hardships.

The warrior goddesses knew that living takes a huge amount of courage. To live with courage is an invitation to live authentically, boldly, bravely and sometimes even a little foolishly. It doesn’t mean our decisions are perfect or right all the time. It doesn’t mean we always feel sure about them.

What it does mean is that we feel sure about ourselves. We are certain that we have an innate ability to forge ahead, even on days when we don’t want to. When we feel we can’t take another step, we still find a way to do what is right and necessary.

We deal with issues as they come up – instead of adding them to tomorrow’s to-do list. This is the spirit of the warrior goddess, the archetype that liberates and protects us using skill and discipline, never giving up and tirelessly fighting for what is fair and truthful.

As Above, So Below

If you think that you are alone in your struggles, think again. For centuries these brave women had to live in a time where they had no voice, no rights, no power. Every single day was a battle to feed, clothe and support themselves and their families. Death, plagues and poverty were rampant. Has anything really changed in our world?

Persephone, Greek Goddess of the Underworld, had 14 siblings! Can you imagine who won the fight for the remote control every evening, never mind the bathroom setup? Relating with primordial gods and goddesses – all the bickering, sibling rivalry, power struggles, adulterous affairs and double crossing for pole position – is not as foreign a concept as you may think.

Apathy and the illusion of time are our biggest downfalls. To the earliest goddesses there was no time like the present, living every day as if it was their last. These heroines had to flex the muscles of confidence, wit, courage and focus every single day – if only to survive.

Just as we cannot go into battle unprepared, we cannot go into our days unprepared either. We need to don the armor of purposeful living, not only to survive but to succeed and thrive.

Wisdom Of The Warrior Goddess

We do not have to be activists, advocates, agitators or aggressive, argumentative mercenaries always on the attack to emulate these great women. We just have to be who we are – sisters, mothers, daughters, husbands, sons – human beings. Unfortunately, over the centuries this is how the feminine warrior has been distorted and viewed – the heartless she-devil – a whole archetype of its own being born from this flawed thinking.

The warrior goddess does not do battle for battle’s sake; there is always a higher purpose. I am quite sure that each of these women had more interesting things to do with their days. Just as the ancient Samurai warriors had a calling to “serve and attend” so too does the deity live with conviction, integrity and honor. This is how she transforms from she-devil to the sacred empowered feminine.

Goddess Energy For The 21st Century

We could do well to master these qualities in our 21st century throw-away culture. We quit, block or delete people and places when things get tough. Often, we fall into a victim mentality, we lose heart and time waiting for something or someone “out there” to come to our rescue.

It is vital to wake up from the sleeping beauty syndrome we have created and save ourselves! Giving up is not an option. Should failure knock on our door, accept defeat but don’t dwell there. A warrior goddess is not bound by the past, though she has taken notes for her future. Can we aspire to embody her spirit where we live, whether man or woman, courageously, truthfully and authentically?

Settling into the new landscape of our lives, I hope these dynamic warrior women encourage you to continue the journey of discovering how this ancient feminine wisdom can enhance your life.

The warrior goddess learns the lessons and always takes flight to fight another day.
