WHEN THE BODY TALKS
Her Physical Heart Spoke To Her
It happened after a rather long weekend. After my parents’ visit, after my one-hour swim and another hour in the gym. My heart twitched while I was preparing ingredients in the kitchen on that Sunday evening. Somewhat concerned, I decided to speak to my heart about it.
In meditation, I connected to my body and thought of my heart. Then, I asked it – what was the matter? What do you want to tell me? I got an answer – tired.
I reflected on this during the meditation itself. My body was tired. My heart had twitched to advise me to rest.
I found it surprising. Being me, if I were in a town where there were exercise classes, I would have gone for one or two more classes. Simply because I didn’t feel very tired.
I lived like I would live forever. I lived like I was indestructible. I could go on and on and on like the Energizer bunny.
However, now I knew that my body wasn’t on the same page with me. It had been a long day. It was getting late. It was time to slow down and relax. No more “work” of any kind.
Taking Care Of Our Body
It is important to respect our body and treat it well. We each only have one body. What would we do if it breaks down, right? That was an important revelation for me. One of the most important ones for 2017.
There’s a lot of advice from the experts available everywhere you turn, but how many people actually take note of it? How many make it a point to incorporate it into their lifestyle?
We shouldn’t wait until something serious happens to ourselves health-wise before we take the necessary steps to safeguard our health.
Simple practices like eating three proper meals a day on time and including natural nutrient-rich foods instead of processed foods. Practices like exercising regularly, not working too hard, getting adequate sleep every night and having a balanced life. All are important.
Meditating regularly, even for 5-10 mins at a time 1-2 times a day is also beneficial for our health. It helps us to calm down, relax, focus and centre ourselves. You will enjoy the added benefits of more clarity and focus in your thoughts. Ideas will flow more easily too. The feeling of being more relaxed and serene will result in being slower to anger and less inclination to be irritated as well.
Talking Positively About And To Our Body
Treat your body as your partner. It has been working tirelessly to help accomplish your tasks and goals every day. Your body has served you very well, and so respect it and treat it with loving care. Never neglect it nor abuse it.
Before you drift off to dreamland, pat yourself on your shoulder or give yourself a hug. Thank your body for doing a great job today. When you look in the mirror, tell your body:
- I look nice today.
- I have nice eyebrows.
- This new hairstyle makes me look so much better.
- I love my hair.
- This dress makes me look good.
These simple words and gestures will brighten up your day.
After all, your body is intuitive and intelligent, and it’s listening. So, positive affirmations when spoken out loud regularly will have a positive effect.
When you care for your body with love, just as you tend to a beautiful garden with devotion, you will reap the rewards of a more wholesome and fulfilling life. If your body is healthy and happy, so will you be too. Remember, health is wealth.
